The two-seat observation aircraft received its name "Bird Dog" out of a naming contest result amongst the Cessna employees. Jack Swayze took inspiration from a gun dog, or as hunters would call it, "Bird Dog" as the 0-1 would hover low and close to observe exploding shells. Cessna fabricated 3,431 0-1 Bird Dogs under Fuji in Japan. This handcrafted model is painted in the same paint scheme as the original and is painstakingly built from Philippine mahogany by our skilled craftsmen.
