With revolutionary features, this sensor saves time, improves system performance and enhances the contractor's reputation as a water management expert. Reliable signal transmission and other innovations deliver superior responsiveness to rainfall and cold temperatures, while user-friendly features cut installation and programming time in half. Choose your own rainfall set points and save up to 35% on water usage while promoting lush, beautiful landscapes. Installs faster with a one-person crew Rain Bird designed the WR2 so that one person can install it quickly and easily. Signal strength is displayed on both the sensor unit and the controller interface. The sensor’s innovative versatile mounting bracket quickly attaches securely to a gutter or any vertical surface, such as a fence or wall. Easier to use and program Programming the WR2 is simplified for fast set-up. In just a few seconds, you can select set points, program the irrigation modes and save your contractor default. On the controller interface, all settings are displayed on the easy-to-read LCD screen, so you can see signal strength, rain and temperature set points, battery life and more at a glance. Unlike other rain sensors, the WR2 has a long-lasting battery that’s quick and easy to replace. Superior signal reliability Signal strength is displayed on the controller interface using familiar cell phone icons. Dual antennas safeguard the system from signal interference by radios, mobile phones, power lines, etc. The WR2 system overcomes most line-of-sight obstructions so you have freedom in locating the sensor. Weather data is updated every 45 seconds to ensure the most reliable communication between sensor and controller.

I have connected this sensor to a Nelson Smart Zone EZ controller. The whole installation and set up took 20 to 30 minutes. I ran a program and verified that the rain sensor would indeed halt the program and turn off the system. It worked like a charm. Now all I have to do is sit back and start saving money. I would recommend if you are thinking about buying this sensor to check out the manual. Look over the section on how to connect the sensor to your controller and make sure you understand the different ways to connect the sensor. My controller has a sensor input and an open 24 volt port I could use so it was straight forward.***Update***The sensor worked fine for 4 months. We had a large rain storm roll through my area and it dropped 3+ inches of rain over a 9 hour period. I checked my display and found it only showed 1/4 inch. I found this odd. I expected the display to read 1/2 inch the max reading. I removed the sensor from outside and started to test it. I found I could push down the disk assembly about 1/4 inch and get the display to read the 1/2 inch. This told me the sensor was working right but the disk assembly did not expand enough. I figured all I had to do was replace the disk assembly and I would be good to go.I called Rain Bird and after 6 tries I was put on hold for 40 minutes finally Josh answered the phone. I explained to Josh what was going on with my sensor and he agreed that the sensor was not working properly. He also told me that he didn't have any notes on this particular problem and he would have to talk with someone else and he would call me back the next day. Josh took down my name and phone number. The next day I waited for a phone call but got nothing. The next day I tried calling Rain Bird yet again and after three tries was put on hold for over 50 minutes. I couldn't wait any longer so I hung up.The next day I tried again and after 4 tries I was on hold for 36 minutes and Louis answered. I explained to Louis my problem and that I had talked with a Josh two days ago. Louis said he was confused and wanted to know if the sensor shutoff my sprinkle system. I told him yes but only because I had it set to shut off the system when it sensed a 1/4 inch of rain. If I had it set higher it wouldn't of shut off my system. Louis then quickly told me the system was working fine and he didn't know what I wanted him to do. I told Louis that all I wanted was a new disk assembly. Louis told me they didn't do that. He then told me there was nothing they could do for me I would have to get in contact with a local dealer and see if they would exchange the product. Louis then ended the call shortly after. I finally called my local dealer and explained everything and he told me to come down with the sensor so he could take a look at it. After 5 minutes at the dealer he agreed the disk assembly was bad and gave me a new one.I have installed the replacement disk assembly and reinstalled my sensor. Just last night a light rain rolled through dropping 6/10 of an inch of rain. I checked the display and it read 1/2 an inch. The sensor is now working properly. If anyone is thinking I am blowing smoke about the hold wait times I invite you call Rain Bird. The customer service number is 1-800-724-6247. I would say send them an E-mail but nowhere on their web site can you find an address to send one. Feel free to look for yourself. WWW.RainBird.com.I do like the way the sensor works the ability to set the different rain amounts and temperatures is great and the set up is easy. I lowered the original rating of four stars to two only because of Rain Birds poor customer service. After this experience I will be thinking twice before I buy another Rain Bird product.
